Valerie Loureda's Coach Gave Her Some Brutally Honest Advice Between Rounds Last Night
Bellator superstar/social media sensation Valerie Loureda took her first professional loss last night, moving to 3-1 - a unanimous decision upset for her opponent, Hannah Guy - where she didn't look GREAT....
....but still dropped Hannah and showed sparks of promise for sure....
….and she's taking the loss in stride….
People gotta remember - she's only 22 years old and this was her fourth pro fight EVER. There's a lot of room to grow.
I've actually seen a lot more talk about what happened in-between rounds in the past day than during the fight, however, thanks to the stern cornerwork by her team….
In the responses of those tweets, there's a lot of debate over whether or not this was the right thing for a coach to tell a fighter in that moment. Some are saying that was PERFECT coaching, and that "keeping it real" is what a fighter needs, and others are demanding Loureda fire her coach over such rhetoric.
Truthfully, I don't think any of us will know whether or not this was the advice Loureda wanted to hear until she discusses it herself. Every fighter is different - some love this kind of cornering, and others hate it. She may thrive when pissed off a little, or demand to know where they're really at in a fight. She may have been put down by that as well - I don't know.
What do you guys think, though? Right move or not?
